2022-05-06

HAIKOU, April 28. /TASS/. Secretary of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee Shen Xiaoming urged the region's leadership to take measures to fulfill the tasks set by General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Xi Jinping. This was reported by the Hainan Daily newspaper.

According to the newspaper, Shen Xiaoming attended meetings of the first (Haikou Party Committee) and third delegations (Danzhou and Changjiang) of the Hainan Provincial Party Congress. He noted that the regional leadership needs to carefully study the tasks that Chinese President Xi Jinping has set for the province during his recent inspection visit to the island. The secretary of the Party Committee said that Hainan should become a showcase for China's reform and openness policy in the new era and that the project of establishing a free port area in the region should become China’s trademark.

According to the newspaper, the participants of the meetings put forward several initiatives on measures to create a modern industry in Hainan, coordinate development strategies for different regions of the province, improve living standards in the countryside, develop health and education, and protect the environment.

Shen Xiaoming emphasized that the next five years will be a critical and unique period during which Hainan will see the closure of customs inspection points. "It is a peak period in terms of risks and stress tests, and at the same time it is a period of increasing the abilities of the personnel and gaining experience," he pointed out. As the secretary of the party committee pointed out, the provincial leadership will need to solve all emerging problems so that they become a "source of driving force" for deepening reform and openness in Hainan Province.
